BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK publishes gender pay gap data

Today BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK publishes its 2017 gender pay gap report as part of its ongoing commitment towards gender parity and the principles of the Women in Finance Charter. The report reveals that the current median pay gap at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK is 21.9%*.

The gender pay gap is not caused by unequal pay for men and women in the same levels and roles, but as a result of there being a greater proportion of men in more senior roles, and in roles that attract higher rates of pay. Women make up a larger percentage of the lower to upper-mid quartile roles. It is when you get to the upper quartile that the percentage of women decreases.

In terms of bonuses, everyone at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK receives a bonus aligned to business objectives. This is in line with our aim to sustain a ‘one team’ ethos. The median bonus gap is 0.5%.

The under-representation of women in the financial services is not a new challenge and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions has already taken a number of steps to achieve greater gender balance. Further initiatives will be put in place, including:

  • Signing the Women in Finance Charter
  • Roll out of a mentoring programme
  • Encouraging men to take shared parental leave
  • Further promote flexible working
  • Launch a Sales Academy to encourage women to enter and succeed in a sales environment
  • Tailored Leadership Development Programme to ensure new managers are trained on how to build and lead diverse teams

“Here at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions we are very clear that diversity and inclusion is fundamental to our business development. It ensures that we remain flexible, more adaptive and have an even stronger and more successful future ahead of us.

Within our business, talent is the key criteria for success. However, we do recognise that greater representation of women at senior levels is critical in order to achieve a more diverse and balanced organisation, which is reflective of our own values and those of our customers.

We are working hard to remove the barriers for women within our business as well as striving to increase diversity in all areas.”

Rachel Appleton, HR Director, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK.
